Engalaweni Village Maize Micro-Loan

The Engalaweni Village loan will provide money for seeds and fertilizer for families.  The loan will be paid back to you after harvest in June/July with the excess maize grown because of the fertilizer.

A bag of fertilizer costs around $60.  You can give your part of the  loan in increments of $20.  When the loan is paid back your portion of the loan will be returned to your account and you can loan it again to someone else!

In 2010 we made our first loans to the Engalweni community (17 families).  We visited the loan recipients in June of 2011.  Each family proudly showed off their maize fields, many 8-9 feet high.  These loans made sure each of these 17 families would have food security for the year.  This year 30 families have come forward asking for loans.
