The Jabu Bags from Swaziland
Jabu Bags is an income-generating project in the rural areas of Swaziland. Two
groups of women rom the Kalanga and Velezizweni Chiefdoms, work together
to make cloth bags promoting skill sharing within the groups and financial independence. Added to the Jabu family
this spring, the Doron bag is a larger purse, with an outside and inside pocket. Made with Tanzanian fabric, and twill
lining, this bag has more strength, holding a 15 inch computer, or just a lot of stuff! Two dowl sticks ensure the structure
of the bag holds, and a handmade clay button adds the finishing touch and fastens the strap.
