The Chitenje Africa Bag is a beautiful bag made out of colorful Chitenjes. Chitenjes are cotton cloth produced either in Malawi or Tanzania that are used by the ladies within the villages to wear as a skirt or to bundle their babies on their backs.
This bag has been make by Kamweko Village. Each Bag is double layered. There is a Malawi grown cotton canvas layer on the inside and then a chitenje style cloth outer layer making the bag extra durable and strong.
All proceeds from the sale of this bag are returned to Malawi and the project .You can go to our “Who Made Your Bag” section to find out more information about the sewing groups. Each bag is approximately 14 inches high by 18 inches in width.
