Investing in teenage girls for a more just, stable, and peaceful world!

Malawi, Africa is plagued with old beliefs such as girls are made for marriage. 60% of girls in Malawi do not finish primary school, the U.S. equivalent of 8th grade. Many teenage girls drop out of school due to a lack of available menstrual products. Africa Pads are re-usable, eco-friendly pad kits that are fighting to change these statistics.

Education is essential for empowerment. Africa Pads is focused on the fight to keep girls in school!

Villagers making bag handles

Over 65 percent of Malawi’s 12 million people live below the poverty line of less than 1 US dollar a day, while 22 percent of the population is categorized as ultra-poor.

The plight of Malawi has been described by some as the perfect storm of human deprivation. It has a combination of climatic disasters, impoverishment, the AIDS pandemic, malaria, schistosomiasis and other diseases.
