Little Lesson #2: Education in sub-Saharan Africa This is a photo taken of students in Choma, Zambia during one of our trips to Africa. Unfortunately, sub-Saharan Africa faces the highest rate of education exclusion compared to all other African regions. In fact, “over one-fifth of children between the ages of about 6 and 11 are out of school, followed by one-third of youth between the ages of about 12 and 14”(UNESCO 2022). The Harsh reality is that these children don’t have the time or resources to go to school because their basic needs such as food, shelter, and health, are not being met. Africa Bags is helping curve this patterns by giving children the resources they need to go to school. This includes menstrual products, financial stability and much more.
